Mary A. (McCormick) Sheehan, a life long resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Masachusetts General Hospital in Boston following an extended illness. She was 73 years old.
Mary was born in Boston on July 8, 1942 a daughter of the late Robert McCormick and Margaret (Connolly) McCormick. She grew up in Charlestown where she attended the Boston Public School system and graduated from Charlestown High School. Mary worked for over 15 years as a cooking consultant for the Massachusetts Institute of Technonology in Cambridge. Mary was always concerned with family comes first as a member of a family of 15 children and instilled in her own children that family life is very important.
Mary is the beloved wife of the late John P. "Jack" Sheehan. She is the devoted mother of Sheila Sheehan and her husband Joseph Greene of Melrose, John R. Sheehan and his wife Lilliana of Florida and James Sheehan and his wife Kerri Burns-Sheehan of Charlestown. She is the loving Nana to Melissa, Seamus and Sinead. She is the beloved sister of James McCormick, Frank McCormick, Gerry McCormick, Joan O'Brien, Janet LaPorte, Carol McCormick, Sheila McGonagle, and the late Annmarie Crilley, Margaret O'Neill, Dorothy Duffy, Bobby McCormick, Paul McCormick, Donald McCormick, Arthur McCormick and Joseph McCormick. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mary's Funeral on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Her burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Visiting hours will be on Monday, May 9, 2016 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
