Virginia Belle Joseph, 95, of Mystic died peacefully on Monday, May 2, 2016, at Mystic Healthcare and Rehabilitation. She was born on January 8, 1921, in Mystic.
She married Charles J. Joseph on September 29, 1939. He predeceased her in 2004.
Prior to her marriage she worked at the Mystic Laundry. She enjoyed her home, gardening and flowers, music, helping others, and her family. At the nursing home, she was known as Miss Congeniality.
She leaves two children, Susan J. Briggs of Westerly and Richard L. Joseph and his wife Gwen A. Joseph of Mystic. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Michael Briggs, James Briggs, Karen Wilson, James Joseph, Richard M. Joseph and Michelle Edwards, as well as several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sisters, Ernestine Arnold and Irene Schroeter.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the nurses and staff at Mystic Healthcare for their loving care of Virginia over the past 12 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Funeral Service at Elm Grove Cemetery, Route 27, Mystic on Friday, May 6, at 1:00pm. Visitation is private.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Mystic Healthcare and Rehab Residents Recreation Fund, 475 High Street, Mystic.
