Obituary

Josephine Stacoviak, Olyphant, passed away April 24 at Regional Hospital of Scranton. She was the widow of Stephen Stacoviak.

Born in Olyphant, daughter of the late John and Anna Pasick, she was employed by the Pawnee Pants Co., Olyphant. She was a member of Holy Cross Parish.

Surviving are a son, Stephen, with whom she resided; and a daughter, Terry, Olyphant; four grandchildren; two nieces, Phyllis Ockerman and Mary Ann Popick; nephews, John Kowalski and Michael Pasick.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Kowalski and Mary Romanchick; and four brothers, Joseph, Mike, George and Edward.

She was called Mom, Grandma, Ciocci Josie or Josie by those who knew her best. Josie was always grateful for what she had without lamenting what she didn’t. Even her last years she never complained to anyone as she struggled through days and nights, barely being able to see or hear. She enjoyed having company, and welcomed everyone to her home with a smile and a kiss. Josie never mentioned her problems; instead she focused on expressing love for everyone. Aunt Josephine will be greatly missed by all.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Monsignor Delaney for the time he spent with us making the arrangements, and to his associate for officiating at the Mass for Christian Burial at Holy Cross Church, Olyphant, and to the Glinsky Funeral Home, Olyphant, for the dignity they’ve shown in expediting arrangements for her interment. Last but not least, we are grateful to the fourth floor staff at Regional Hospital of Scranton for the compassionate care they gave Josephine at the end of her journey.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday with Mass in Holy Cross Parish. Interment, Holy Ghost Cemetery.

Arrangements entrusted to the Michael P. Glinsky Funeral Home, 129 Grant Street, Olyphant, Pa.
