Ruth E. (Leggett) Richardson of Medford and beloved wife of the late William H. “Bill” Richardson, passed away at the Glen Ridge Nursing Center in Medford on Monday morning May 2, 2016. She was 89 years old.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, on September 8, 1926, she was the beloved daughter of the late Sadie (Wiener) and James Leggett. Ruth was a graduate of the Savannah Public School system.
She was married to the late William Richardson (1930-2015) and mother of the late William "Rusty" Cannon. Ruth traveled the country with her military family and making "home" in distant places such as Morocco, Spain, Gilbraltor, and Labrador. She loved the excitement of travel.
She is survived by her son and his partner; Thomas Cannon Sr. and Michele Miller, of Bozeman, Montana, siblings; Dorothy Price of Alaska, & Edna Welch of South Carolina, Grandchildren; Lesley, Jeff, Thomas Jr., Nick, Julie, RuthAnn, & Sean, many great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law; Stuart & Mary Richardson of Methuen, Russell Richardson of Woburn, Douglas Richardson of Sunapee, New Hampshire, Evelyn & Charles Flaherty of Melrose, and Donald McCormack of Medford and dear friends; Bob & June Jolin of Groveland.
Her funeral service will be celebrated in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford on Thursday, May 5, 2016, at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Visitation will be held in the funeral home, prior to the service, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. Interment will be held in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.
