FAIRHAVEN -- Alice P. (Pell) Irwin, 100, of New Bedford died Sunday, July 3, 2005, at Alden Court Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Fairhaven. She was the widow of Joseph Irwin.
Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late John and Sarah (Goldthorpe) Pell. She lived in this community all of her life and was a graduate of New Bedford High School.
She studied at Brown University and was a managerial assistant at the New England Telephone Co. for many years.
She was a longtime member of Grace Episcopal Church and was active in Episcopal Church Women and served as its president. She was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers.
Mrs. Irwin loved to sew, paint and do needlework and knitting. She was an active Republican and was interested in the well-being of all.
Survivors include two daughters, Anita Trottier of Wareham and Vivian Joy Irwin of Weymouth; a grandson; and a great-granddaughter.
Her private services were held Thursday, July 7, 2005, under the direction of the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St., New Bedford, Ma. with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.
It is suggested remembrances be made in her name to the Rector's Discretionary Fund of Grace Church 133 School St. New Bedford, Ma. 02740
