Obituary

Frances P. Field, née Davis, 86, of Andover, Mass., died Friday, April 29, 2016 at Prescott House in North Andover, Mass. A native of Lynn, Mass., she had resided in Andover for many years, after raising her family in Hamilton and Danvers, Mass.
 
“Fran” is survived by her dear companion, Arnold "Barney" Hanawalt of Andover, and five of her children, Cynthia Braca and her husband Michael of Providence, R.I., Meredith Field and her partner Margaret of Iowa City, Iowa, Christopher Field and his wife Gaylene of Jacksonville, Fla., Gregory Field and his wife Virginia of Yarmouth, Maine, and Hilary Maynard and her husband Jeffrey of North Franklin, Conn. Her daughter Amy Field passed away in 1997. She is also survived by six fabulous grandchildren: Nicholas Field, Ryan Maynard, Emily Field Foltz, Kevin Maynard, Andrew Braca and Elizabeth Field Gentile. Her late husband, George F. Field, also a native of Lynn, passed away in 2011. 
 
Fran was one of six children of William and Emily Davis of Lynn, Mass. Her brother, John Davis of Eastham, Mass., is her only surviving sibling. She cherished being part of the extended Davis family, which also included her older brothers William Davis. Jr., Richard Davis and Robert Davis, and her sister, Joanne Davis Laubner, and their wonderful families. 
 
For much of her life, Fran was an avid reader and gardener. She loved art, and enjoyed her membership at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston for years. She also loved a hot cup of orange pekoe tea and chocolate desserts. In her later years, Fran enjoyed travel and cruises, including trips on the Maine coastal windjammer Angelique.
 
A funeral service is planned for this Friday, May 6, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine Parish, 198 Haggetts Pond Road, Andover, Mass. Calling hours will be held Thursday, May 5, 2016, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street in Andover. Fran’s ashes will be buried with her parents in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Lynn, Mass. Donations to the Senior Center of Andover are welcome in lieu of flowers.
