Retired Union Pipe Fitter for Local # 537
TEWKSBURY: Joseph P. Tower, age 76, of Lancaster, a former longtime resident of Tewksbury, passed away at the Physicians Regional Medical Center in Naples, FL on Wednesday, April 27, 2016. He was the beloved husband Elaine M. (DeChristoforo) Tower, with whom he would have celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on May 1, 2016.
Born in Reading on April 29, 1939, he was the son of the late Graham and Lena (Guinan) Tower. Joe was raised in Reading and graduated from Reading Memorial High School in 1957.
Prior to his retirement in 2001, he was employed for 42 years as a union pipe fitter for Local # 537 of Boston.
Joe resided in Tewksbury for 39 years until moving to Lancaster in 2003.
He enjoyed playing golf, bird watching, and working around his yard.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Paul J. Tower and his wife Joy of Mashpee, Kevin F. Tower of Lowell, Dana M. Tower of Arlington, and Keith M. Tower and his wife Susan of Reading; six grandchildren, Matthew P. Lauren M, Corey S. Kristen N., Zachary M. and Jake A. Tower; three sisters, Rita Muise of Reading, Mary Hyslip of Tewksbury, Aileen Shaw of Reading; one brother, Gerald Tower and his wife Darlene of Toney River, Nova Scotia; also many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Joe was the brother of the late Isabelle Florence, Eugene, and Thomas Tower.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass at 12 Noon on Friday, May 6, at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Services will conclude at St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury. At Joseph’s request, there are No Calling Hours. Kindly Omit Flowers.
