Janice (Leger) Lawton, 86, of Medway died peacefully Saturday, April 30, 2016 at her son’s home in Medway. She was the beloved wife of Ralph W. Lawton who died in 1996.
Born in Fall River on October 14, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Edmond and Almena (Battersby) Leger.
Mrs. Lawton grew up in Fall River and graduated from Durfee High School. She resided in Medfield for many years until moving to Medway in 1997.
Mrs. Lawton worked for her son, Steve, at The Little Store in Medway for fifteen years, retiring in 2013. She had previously worked as a bookkeeper at the former Healthco International in Boston from 1979-1995.
Mrs. Lawton was a member of the Franklin Elks Club. She was an avid cribbage player, New England Sports fan, a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed snowmobiling.
She is survived by two daughters, Margaret Packard of Johnson, RI and Judith Snay of Bellingham and a son Stephen Lawton of Medway.
She is also survived by four grandchildren, Jennifer Smith, Erin Snay, Jason Packard and Jesse Lawton and three great-grandchildren, Tenley, Wesley and Lennon.
Mrs Lawton was predeceased by her son John “Jack” Lawton and seven brothers and sisters.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral from the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) on Saturday, May 7, at 9:15 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, 151 Village St. in Medway at 10 a.m.
Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Fall River.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4 - 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
