Obituary

CHICOPEE – Marietta E. (Plasse) Chapdelaine, 97, a longtime resident of Lafayette Street in the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, April 30, 2016. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Saint Edmond, Province of Quebec, Canada on October 27, 1918, a beloved daughter of the late Donat and Annette (Rajotte) Plasse. She was raised in Canada before moving to the Aldenville section of Chicopee where she lived for most of her life. She was employed for many years at the former A. G. Spalding Company in Willimansett. She was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Aldenville where she was a member of the Ladies of Saint Anne Sodality. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Roland J. “Chappy” Chapdelaine who was Called Home on August 28, 1995. She leaves her two loving children, Judith A. Daly and her husband, Robert, of Vero Beach, FL and Donald R. Chapdelaine and his wife, Diane, of Chicopee; her four cherished grandchildren, Brendan Daly, Tara Brady, Adam Chapdelaine and Andrew Chapdelaine and his wife, Kristen; her three cherished great-grandchildren, Cooper and Peyton Brady and Nicholas Chapdelaine; her dear brother, Richard Plasse and his wife, Joan, of Agawam; her dear sister, Rachel Nunes of Washington; her four dear sisters-in-law, Catherine Plasse, Marion Plasse and Liette Plasse, all of Chicopee and Joyce Plasse of Springfield; her dear brother-in-law, Rene Racine of Chicopee; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Chapdelaine and Plasse families. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her six dear brothers, Herve, Emile, Roger, Leo, Thomas “Rene” and Joseph Romeo Plasse; and her four dear sisters, Loretta Tremblay, Jeanne Plante, Aline Racine and Yvette Borowiec. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday morning, May 4, 2016 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday morning, May 4, 2016 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. before the Mass. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
