Augusta, GA – Sammie William Hooks, 72, loving husband of Carol Holley Hooks, entered into rest on Thursday, April 28, 2016.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at Platt’s Funeral Home Crawford Ave. Chapel with Rev. Kenny Stevens officiating. Burial will be private.
Mr. Hooks served and retired from the U.S. Army where he served two tours in Vietnam and also in the Philippines. He was awarded several medals and awards, including the Bronze Star. Mr. Hooks enjoyed traveling, working in the yard, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, survivors include three daughters; Dawn Brown of Hinesburg, VT, Kathy Wickline (Charlie) of Hampton, VA, Samantha Queen of Columbia, SC, two step daughters; Melony Stevens (Kenny) of Martinez, GA, Tammie England of San Antonio, TX, step son; Tres Hazel (Paige) of Augusta, GA, 11 grandchildren, and one great grandson. Mr. Hooks was preceded in death by three brothers; Hubert Hooks, Buford Hooks, Allen Hooks, and one granddaughter; Vickie Queen.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
