Age 88, of Maplewood
Formerly of Star Prairie, WI
Born on June 27,1927 in Star Prairie, WI. She was the third of nine children born to Arnold and Lillian Bottolfson. She grew up in Star Prairie attending the school there for eight years before graduating from New Richmond High School in 1945.Helen was honored to be chosen homecoming queen in 1944. She married Otis Howe of Star Prairie in 1946. They had four children while they lived in Star Prairie and two more after they moved to Maplewood, MN in 1956. She was a stay-at-home mom until 1967 when she went to work outside the home and worked full time until retiring at age 79 in 2006. Helen will be remembered for many good reasons including her wit, wisdom, and work ethic. She was an excellent cook and for about 30 consecutive years prepared the Thanksgiving feast for up to 35 people. She was a very good singer and loved to worship the Lord through song. She loved baseball and has her name etched in limestone at Target Field.
Helen is preceded in death by husband Otis; infant son, James R.; and siblings , Lois, Fern, James, Donna, Stuart, Darlene, Roger and Jerry. She is survived by children, Bruce (Suzanne), Brent (Mary), Randy (Mona), Julie (Dave) Wirth, and Russ (Lynn); 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many other loving relative and friends. Funeral Service 11 AM Tuesday, May 3, with visitation two hours prior at Bethany Lutheran Church, 415 Bridge Ave Star Prairie, WI 54026. Interment at Oakland Cemetery.
