NORTH ANDOVER: Clarke E.Harris, age 77, of North Andover, passed away early Tuesday morning, April 26, 2016. The beloved husband of Marty Dutton-Harris, Clarke was also the loving stepfather of Ben J. Dutton and his wife Nancy of Medford, and Rae Dutton Dearborn and her husband Andrew of Millbury, and cherished Grampy of Sarah, Jack, Tyler, and Ethan. Clarke is also survived by his dear brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
Born in East Lansing, MI, he was the son of the late Clarke E. and Dora (Clarkson) Harris. He studied at both MIT and the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and earned his Master of Physics degree from Northeastern. He enjoyed a rewarding 35-year career with the Raytheon Corporation as an electro optics engineer. During his tenure with the company, Clarke worked at their Wayland, Sudbury, and Tewksbury locations. He continued as a consulting scientist for Fastmetrix of Alabama after retirement.
A man with a zest for life and a lively and curious mind to match, Clarke had varied interests and passions including travel, sailing, the outdoors, reading, music, theater, and cultivating orchids. He loved his family, was devoted to his friends, and was happy with good food and a glass of wine. He was much loved and will be greatly missed.
His memorial service will be held in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, on Saturday, May 14th at 11:00AM. Relatives and friends may visit with his family beginning at 10:00AM. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Clarke’s name to the Nature Conservancy (www.nature.org) would be appreciated.
