Raymond W. Lavoie, 78 of Salem, died unexpectedly at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston on Tuesday, April 26, 2016. He was the husband of Claudette M. (Cormier) Lavoie, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Arthur E. and Florence (Cote) Lavoie. As a young boy, Ray began working with his father in his residential painting business, and with his dear friend Phil Berube, which he continued to do until his retirement. In his free time, Ray enjoyed cabinet making and finish woodworking.
In addition to Claudette, he is survived by his three sons, Paul A. Lavoie and his wife Patricia A. & Peter J. Lavoie and his wife Janet all of Amesbury, Richard A. Lavoie and his wife Lori Ann of Boxford, and his sister, Doris Cahill of Yarmouth. He also leaves six grandchildren, Christopher & Matthew Lavoie, Nicole & Ross Lavoie and Michael & Joseph Lavoie as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Lavoie and sister, Joanne Benson.
Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours from 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem, to be followed by his funeral service, in the funeral home at 12:00 noon.
