April 25, 2016 John D. Friel, Jr. passed away after brief illness at age 71. He grew up in Brighton and lived his later years in Medford.
He served as a U S Marine during the Vietnam War. Jack retired several years ago from U S Airways where he served as a Customer Service Agent for many years.
He is the beloved brother of Joseph Friel of Medford, Catherine (Friel) Fitzgerald and Evelyn Friel of South Boston and brother-in-law William Fitzgerald of South Boston.
He is the uncle of Teresa Fitzgerald of South Boston, Liam Fitzgerald of Jersey City, NJ and Eileen Fitzgerald of Boston and the great uncle of Christopher, Caitlin, Teagan and Brigid Fitzgerald of South Boston.
As a younger man, Jack was an expert mechanic and enjoyed fixing our cars and his airplane. In his later years he enjoyed gardening and watching TV.
