Obituary

Robert A. Demers, 65, formerly of Andover MA and Sunapee, NH died on April 17, 2016 at Newton Wellesley Hospital following several years of declining health. Bob was born in Lawrence, MA the son of Robert and Barbara (Ferrier) Demers on December 6, 1950.
Bob was predeceased by his parents as well as two siblings including his sister B. Elaine (Demers) Jop and brother Theodore “Teddy” Demers.
Bob grew up in the Ballardvale section of Andover. He graduated from Andover High School in 1969 where he was very active in sports including Football, Hockey and Track & Field. He loved music and had a beautiful singing voice. He enjoyed fly-fishing, cooking and watching the PAT’s and Bruins. He spent many hours on hikes and drives in the White Mountains.
Bob started his work career at Western Electric then became Service Manager at Lee Industrial Welding, Freightliner of New Hampshire, in both Londonderry and Lebanon NH, and at Patsy’s Auto Body and & Alignment in Concord NH. He was well respected by his customers.
Bob made New Hampshire his home from 1975 until 2005 in Atkinson, Sandown and Derry. Later he moved to Sunapee then North Conway. Bob spent the last six years of his life at the Northwood Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Lowell, MA receiving quality care from their devoted staff. Despite his illness, he created a jewelry workshop in his room, keeping busy with beading while singing along to the tunes on his Bose stereo.
Bob is survived by his sister Dianne Demers Rein of Manchester, NH and his son Christian A Demers formerly of Sunapee, NH and currently of North Bethesda, MD and daughter in-law Bridget (Buckler) Demers. He is also survived by his former wife and forever friend Darlene Peterson Behrens, Sunapee, NH. In addition, Bob leaves a large extended family and many friends.
