Worcester - John passed away on Sunday 24th April leaving his loving family; wife, Ann (Parsons) of 55 years; daughter, Suzy; son, Matt; four grandchildren; two step-brothers and many nieces and nephews. John DuMont Klump grew up in Rensselaer, Syracuse, and Leominster with his mom, Susan M. (Moore) and dad, George D. Klump. He graduated from Leominster High School, Worcester Boys' Technical School, Worcester Junior College, and Fitchburg State University. John loved to educate. After receiving his BA he taught junior and senior high school in MA & CT. He loved his family and enjoyed a good laugh, writing poetry, telling stories, books, history, gardening, photography and his pets. He also enjoyed biking, skiing, playing basketball with the Worcester Wheelers (even beating the New England Patriots in a friendly game in the 80s) and bowling with the Handicap Bowlers at the old Lincoln Lanes. He enjoyed volunteering at the Ecotarium, Worc Public Library, UMASS Medical Center, Seven Hills Charter School, Odd Fellows Home, Cerebral Palsy Olympics and teaching English as a second language in Worcester. John was an active member of the Episcopalian church: teaching Sunday School, Youth Advisory, Lay Reader and Lay Eucharistic Minister. He was a member of the Greendale Mens Club, Worcester Host Lions, and Alethia Grotto Clowns attending many Clown Conventions in New England. He persevered even when life was tough, loved God and knew he was going to Heaven, singing the old hymn, "Abide with me" one week before he passed. A memorial service will be held at Heritage Bible Chapel at 182 Brooks Station Rd, Princeton, MA on Saturday 7th May at 11am. John was an organ donor and even at 82 was able to give gifts to many others after his death. Go to www.neob.org to find out how you can too.
