Mary Duplice

Mary (DeLaura) Duplice, 89, of Groton, CT passed away on April 23, 2016. Mary was born in Brooklyn, New York on September 11, 1926 to Frank and Julia DeLaura. Mary grew up in Brooklyn and moved to Groton, CT where she met the love of her life, Alphonse Duplice. They married on October 2, 1945 and spent their lives in Groton, CT building a beautiful family. Mary was happiest when surrounded by her family. Her son, Alphonse Duplice Jr. of Mystic and daughter, Julie Messina of Groton were the light of her life. She cherished her growing family including daughter-in-law Sally (Birchell) Duplice, grandchildren Charissa (Messina) Mayer and Frankie Messina as well as two great-granddaughters, Juliana (5) and Isla (3). Mary enjoyed being a “Great Mimi” and shared a very special bond with her great granddaughters.
Mary was a kind, gentle woman who loved cooking and feeding her family. She was an avid animal lover owning many pets throughout her years and she had a love for feeding the wild birds in her backyard. She was fond of taking rides to the beach with her adoring husband. Mary always knew exactly what to say and do to comfort and support her family. Her gentle hugs and warm kisses were always the perfect solution to any problem.
Mary is survived by her aforementioned family members. She is predeceased by her husband Alphonse Duplice and her sister Lillian Ewing.
The family would like to thank the staff at Mystic River Homes and Apple Rehab of Mystic for their support and care of Mary.
Mary will be greatly missed by her family. Services will be on Thursday April 28, 2016 from 10:00-11:30 at Dinoto Funeral Home 17 Pearl Street Mystic, CT with burial immediately following.
