Worcester- Norma J. Salmi, 93, long-time resident of Holden, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016. She was lovingly cared for in her last years at Notre Dame Health Care.
She was born in Worcester on January 21, 1923, daughter of the former Ida Matilda Eklund and Vaino Johnson. Norma was predeceased by her husband Ralph and daughter Esther. She is survived by her son Paul Salmi and his wife Marietta Cheng.
Norma earned a BS from the University of Connecticut in 1944 and a Masters of Education from Worcester State College in 1974. Her teaching career began at Salter Secretarial School and continued at Becker Jr. College and Quinsigamond Community College. She was the volunteer treasurer at Greendale People's Church for many years.
