NEW BEDFORD – Joao Salvador, age 94 years, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the loving husband of the late Maria Isabel (Noia) Salvador and the son of the late Jose Maria and Maria (Mota) Salvador.
Joao was born in Santa Cruz, Flores, Azores, and after moving to this country in 1974, worked for Frionor Kitchens.
He is survived by his children: Maria Vieira and her husband, Gilbert, and Ivone Dutra and her husband, Fernando, all of New Bedford; 4 grandchildren: Lisa Vieira-Griffin, Kevin Vieira, Tiffany Dutra and Megan Dutra; great granddaughter, Isabella Griffin; a sister, Elisa Fernandes of Portugal; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Salvador was predeceased by several siblings.
His funeral will be Monday beginning in the funeral home at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery.
