Helen L. (Holmes) MacLeod, 94, died Monday, July 4, at the BayPointe Nursing Home in Brockton after a period of failing health. She was the wife the late John W. MacLeod. Born in Stoughton, she was a graduate of Stoughton Schools. She was a resident of Avon for over 70 years. Mrs. MacLeod owned and operated the Twin Maples Goat Farm in Avon for many years. She retired several years ago. She was a member of the Avon Baptist Church and AGRA. She was very involved with many agricultural societies. An animal lover, in her free time, she enjoyed gardening, fishing, boating and spending time at the ocean and at Swift’s Beach in Wareham.
She is survived by her daughters: Audrey R. Cappiello of S. Yarmouth and Marie L. Pray of Stoughton. She was the Foster Mother of Alice, Beverly and Audrey and the sister of the late Erna Holmes and Isabelle Mitrano. She is also survived by her grandchildren Susan Cadorette, Michael Kaitz, Linda Enck, David Pray and Kimberly Mann; 10 great grandchildren and several foster children.
Funeral services will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday at 12:30 PM. Visiting Hours prior to service from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Donations in Helen’s name may be made to the Avon Baptist Church, W. Main St., Avon, 02322. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
