Myrtice “Myrt” Iona Wilson, 84, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at Pruitt Health in Fitzgerald.
Graveside services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, April 24, 2016, at Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Steve O’Neal officiating. There will not be a formal visitation.
Mrs. Wilson was born October 31, 1931, in Eastman, Georgia, to the late William Howard and Mallie Lee Jones Poole. Mrs. Wilson was a housewife and partner with her husband, in managing the Holiday Inn in High Point, North Carolina and Durham, North Carolina, in the Chapel Hill area. She moved to the community in the early 90’s and along with her husband co-founded the Christian Kitchen in Fitzgerald. She enjoyed flowers, gardening and the simple things in life. Mrs. Wilson was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Fitzgerald and was a very humble lady.
She is survived by her son: Bill Wilson & Dana of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Kevin Wilson & Constance of Naha, Japan, Jake Wilson of Douglas and Andrea W. Przygoda & Ben of Athens; great-grandchildren: Kade Wilson and Grady Wilson of Naha, Japan and one sister: Arlane “Lane” Davis of Fitzgerald. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Marshall N. Wilson; three brothers and five sisters.
