Richard Stanley Mackin Sr., 64, of 164 Packer Road, Canterbury, passed away unexpectedly July 4th, 2005 on Pachaug Pond- his haven.
He was born in Norwich on November 26, 1940 the son of Walter and “Sophie” (Arabik) Mackin. He served his country as a Sargeant in the US Army Reserves.
Richard owned an operated Mackin Concrete Company for 27 years before retiring in 2000.
He is survived by his loving wife, Diane L. Mackin, 8 children, Richard S. Mackin Jr., Shari (Mackin) Counts, Keith Mackin, Quentin Mackin, Christina (Peckham) Lenington, Candice Peckham, Crystal Mackin, Cheryl Mackin; his brothers, Guy Mackin, Rudy Mackin, James Mackin, Daniel Mackin, Greg Mackin, and a sister, Elaine Mackin Cote. Richard is also survived by 16 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and countless friends.
His family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic, on Friday from 6-9pm. His funeral is strictly private at the discretion of Mrs. Mackin- The love of his life.
