Obituary

Tilton-----John A. Pissinis, 80, of Tyngsboro, Massachusetts, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Northwood Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Lowell, Massachusetts on Monday, April 11, 2016.

Mr. Pissinis was born May 21, 1935, in Cambridge, MA, the son of the late Andrew Pissinis and Mary (Kater) Carey. He resided in Plainville, MA for 16 years before moving to Tilton 20 years ago and then back to Massachusetts last year. After many years, he retired from First National Stores, Inc., where he was the Transportation Manager of the Somerville, MA and Windsor Locks, CT locations. Upon retirement to NH, John and his wife Carol managed the Buck Stop in Tilton, NH.

John thoroughly enjoyed watching movies, playing Canasta with his neighbor Kay, his daily trips to Market Basket, cooking, watching Boston sporting games, spending time with his family, and listening to his great grandson, Matthew, play the saxophone.

An animal lover, he leaves behind his special friends Sparky and Cokie, who he fondly called “Felicia.”

John is survived by two daughters; Vicki O’Neill and her husband Steven of Tyngsboro, MA; and Beverly Grimes and her husband Jimmi of Largo, FL; a stepdaughter, Susan Bottan and her husband Gustavo, of Lexington, MA; two stepsons, Mark L. Williams and his wife Holly of Sacramento, CA and David Williams and his wife Helen of Kansas City, MO; ten grandchildren; one great grandson; a sister, Frances Post, of Bryantsville, MA; and several nieces and nephews. John is predeceased by his wife Carol (Street) Pissinis, sister Mary McGarry, and grandson Derrick S. O’Neill.

Per John’s wishes, there will be no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Friday, April 22, 2016 at St. Gabriel Parish - St. Mary’s of the Assumption, 16 Chestnut Street, Tilton, NH.

Burial to follow at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for John during his illness, especially Dr. Scott Plotkin and the entire staff at Massachusetts General Hospital and Donna, Carol, Lisa, Charles, and the entire staff at Northwood Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.
