Obituary

Estin A. Calnan, 88, of Medway passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2016 with his loving family by his side.

Born in Upton and raised in Medway, a son of the late John W. and Daisy D. (Halliwell) Calnan, he was a graduate of Medway High School where he was very active in sports.

Estin proudly served honorably in the Army during the Korean War and was a lifetime member of the Medway VFW Post 1526. He had also been a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles (people helping people) since 1956.

Estin resided in Holliston and ran his own building business in the Holliston area for many years before moving back to his home town of Medway. He also served as the Deputy Building Inspector for the Town of Holliston. He was an avid lover of nature – he loved the outdoors and all its activities.

Survivors include a daughter Tracey (Calnan) Batcheller of Medway, a son Christopher E. Calnan and his wife Lisa of Upton, three sisters; Ida M. Struck of Millis, Shirley A. Smith of Medway and Mary L. Lahnston of Millis, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a bunch of wonderful nieces and nephews along with many dear friends.

Estin was predeceased by a son Bradley W. Calnan and two brothers John W. Calnan Jr. and Raymond C. Calnan.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) on Thursday, April 21, at 9:15 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, 151 Village St. in Medway at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Medway.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 - 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, Estin requested that donations be made in his memory to the Boston Children's Hospital Trust, 401 Park Dr., Suite 602, Boston, MA 02215-3354.
