Joseph J. Walsh died peacefully at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center at the age of 82. Raised in Charlestown, he was the son of the late Leo J. and Margaret (Harkins) Walsh. Joseph served in the US Air Force during the Korean War and remained in the service for nearly 10 years, completing his service with the Air National Guard and Federal Service during the Berlin Crisis of 1961. A Medford resident for over 55 years, Joe enjoyed a long career as the facilities manager for the GK Hall Publishing Co. A devoted family man, he enjoyed gardening, woodworking and furniture making.
The beloved husband of Frances (Pensavalle), he was a devoted father to David Walsh and his wife Lynne of Wellesley, William Walsh of Wellesley, Maureen Capobianco and her husband Joseph of Danvers, and Judith Walsh of Wakefield. He was a loving grandfather to Kelsey, Emily, Adam, Rachel, Benjamin, Michael, Clarice, Marc, Daniel, Ian and Abigail. He was also a dear brother to Leo and Paul Walsh and the late Margaret Murray, John, Frank and Bob Walsh.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Wednesday, April 20th at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 10 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family at the funeral home on Tuesday 4 – 8 PM.
