Obituary

Donabedian, Manuel of Brighton, April 17, 2016. Beloved husband of the late Arline C. (Jones) Donabedian. Devoted father of Daniel Donabedian and his wife Suzanne and Marlene (Donabedian) Duarte and her husband John. Cherished grandfather of Jared, Brianna and Jeremy. Loving brother of Nora Minasian and her late husband Minas and the late Leo Donabedian. Brother-in-law of Ann Donabedian. Uncle of Mary Minasian and Janet (Minasian) Saker and her husband Edward Saker. Manny was born in Hudson, Mass, and spent his youth in Watertown. After his marriage, he made Brighton his home. In June of 1936, he joined the Army and served in Fort Davis, Panama Canal Zone. During WW II, he served in the United States Navy. After WW II, he served in the U.S. Maritime service. He was a member of Hesperia Lodge of Masons AF&AM, Boston, MA; Lt. Manson H. Carter Post 2498, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Needham, MA; American Legion Post 0442, Cambridge, MA; and the U.S. Navy Armed Guard Veterans of World War II. IN 1956, he was elected commander of Post #5 of the Federal Employee’s Veteran’s Association (F.E.V.A.) at the Watertown Arsenal and was subsequently elected to the office of first National Vice Commander. Funeral service at Saint Stephen’s Armenian Church, 38 Elton Avenue, Watertown on Friday, April 22 at 10:00 a.m. The Donabedian family will receive family and friends at Church on Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m., immediately prior to the Funeral Service. Interment services at V.A. National Cemetery are private. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Stone Rehabilitation and Senior Living, 277 Elliot Street, Newton Upper Falls, MA 02464.
