Robert Lawrence Gallagher, Jr., 59, of Londonderry, NH passed away at home on Saturday, April 16, 2016 surrounded by the love and support of his family and friends. Bob was a loving, giving and devoted husband, father, uncle, godfather and co-worker who courageously fought cancer these past 5 months. Bob was born December 25, 1956 in Cambridge, MA the first of five children to Mary (Lynch) and Robert Gallagher. He spent much of his childhood in Malden, MA forming many lifelong friendships and graduated from Malden High School in 1974. He attended Lowell Technological Institute.
Bob met his wife of 35 years, Tina, in the summer of 1974. Bob and Tina were married in 1980 and moved to Londonderry in 1986. Bob and Tina are the proud parents of Erin, married to Ryan Adamonis and Brian. He was the perfect Dad, providing his family with tremendous love and support. The absolute joy of his life was his granddaughter, Sofia and grandson, Mason, lovingly called Papa Bear. Bob built a career in the information technology industry working for electronic and manufacturing companies Wakefield Engineering, Molex and Wakefield-Vette. Over the past 40 years, Bob worked part time as a bartender at the Irish American Club of Malden, MA. He especially loved his Friday night regulars. Bob enjoyed reading, the beach, Disney World and his yearly trips to Aruba.
Bob will be forever remembered by his wife and children, his brothers Michael, Dennis and Gary, his sister Karen, his nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
Following cremation, calling hours were held on Wednesday April 20, 2016 from 3 to 7pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday at 10:00am at St. Mark’s Church, One South Rd., Londonderry. A gathering to celebrate Bob’s life followed at the Irish American Club, 177 West St., Malden, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
