Hansel Clester “H. C.” Spivey, Jr., 61, of Omega passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2016, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Gary Griffin and the Rev. Corey Shiver officiating. Mr. Spivey will be laid to rest at Omega Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 19, 2016, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Kevin Donald, Jason Howard, James Buckner Jr., Kevin Pierce Jr., Larry Crowe, Tyler Mancil and Tyler Donald will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Burch, Dr. Lamar Moree, Dr. Cameron Nixon, Dr. Brad Lindsey, Lonnie Burgess, Michael Perry and Jamie Horton.
Born July 26, 1954 in Coffee County, Mr. Spivey was the son of Lavada Ruth Sellers Spivey of Doerun and the late Hansel Clester Spivey, Sr. He was also preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Sara Grace Jones; and grandparents, Lewis and Nora Sellers and Tillmon and Linnie Mae Spivey. He was the retired owner of Southern Ag and Turf in Tifton and of the Baptist faith. He was a member of the Georgia Fruit and Vegetable Association and former member of the Jaycees. He served as vice-president and president of the Georgia Irrigation Association.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Spivey is survived by his wife, Kathy Harper Donald Spivey of Omega; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Chesley Neal and Rebecca Spivey of Tifton and Michael Kevin Donald of Omega; a daughter and son-in-law, Audrey Elaine and Kevin Reed of Birmingham, Alabama; five sisters and three brothers-in-law, Ruth Burch of Omega, Barbara and Tommy Posey of Coolidge, Bertha and Kevin Pierce Sr. of Doerun, Carol and Brett Jackson of Moultrie and Melissa Spivey of Douglas; six grandchildren, Andrew Spivey, Evelyn Spivey, Caroline Reed, Michael Reed, Tyler Donald and Ryan Donald; and several beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
