Obituary

NATICK: Dorothy C. (Conley) Havener, died at her Port Charlotte, FL, home on Saturday, April 9, 2016, five days past her 91st birthday. Her beloved husband, Charles J. Havener, predeceased her on April 2, 1963.

Born, raised, and educated Boston, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Clara (Mansfield) Conley. Dorothy was married to Charles in 1943, and the couple lived in Boston and Needham prior to settling in Natick in 1959.

Dorothy was a 35 year employee of the William C. Carter Company of Needham, and was noted in her neighborhood for consistently stunning roses, bright annuals gardens, and vegetable gardens with an abundance of tomatoes. She and her mother enjoyed spending time on Cape Cod and Dorothy looked forward to trips to the California coast to visit her son. They would take boat trips to different points of interest or just relax on the water. Fond of cats, Dorothy shared her home and heart with many of them over the years.

She left Natick three years ago and moved to Lexington Manor at Port Charlotte, to be near her son and daughter-in-law, Stephen C. and Paula Havener who reside in Port Charlotte. She is also survived by their children, Helene Wear and her husband Mike of Ohio; and Richard and Erik Slama of California.

Her funeral will be held in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, on Tuesday, April 19th at 1:00PM. The Rev. Dr. Paul Adkins, Pastor of the South Dennis Congregational Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Dell Park Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with Dorothy’s family beginning at 12noon.
