Obituary

Paul G. Hurley, a 54 year resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at the Elliot Hospital in Manchester, New Hampshire following an extended illness. He was 86 years old.

Paul was born in Boston on August 17, 1929, a son of the late George and Blanche Tyner and Martha Watts. He grew up in Roslindale where he was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Roslindale High School in 1947. Paul enlisted into the United States Navy on October 9, 1951 and served his country faithfully and with honor during the Korean Conflict. He was discharged on October 6, 1955 with the rank of SKSN. Paul worked for the United States Postal Service as a Letter Carrier in downtown Boston and East Cambridge and retired in 1989 after 33 years of dedicated service. He was a member of the D.A.V. Post # 10 and the Charlestown V.F.W. Post. He enjoyed ballroom dancing with his wife and listening to Irish music. Paul's passion in life was his dedication to his wife, daughter and grandson.

Paul is the beloved husband of 54 years to the late Mary F. (O'Donnell) Hurley. He is the devoted father of Paula Hurley of Derry, New Hampshire. He is the loving Papa to Quintin Hurley. He is the beloved brother of the late Billy and Jimmy Hurley. He is the cousin of George Tyner of Dennis and Godfather to Stephen Tyner. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Paul's Funeral on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. His burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. His visiting hours will be on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 from 5 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
