George G. Forrest, 87, of Londonderry, NH, passed away Friday, April 15, 2016 at the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center in Derry following a lengthy illness. He was born in Boston, MA on August 29, 1928, a son of the late Edwin and Margaret (Timmons) Forrest. Mr. Forrest proudly served his country in the US Marines for over 20 years prior to retirement as a warrant officer. He was later employed as an engineer at AT & T where he was very active in all the team sports offered at AT & T. Mr. Forrest was a good man and was very welcoming to others. He was a “go to” guy, and was affectionately referred to as the “Mayor”.
He is survived by his five children, Myles Forrest and his partner Mary Morgan of Londonderry, Carleen Forrest-Keefer and her husband Joe Keefer of Ohio, Danny Forrest, Lisa Josephs and husband Timothy, and Mandie Connors-Cassen and husband Scott Cassen, all of Londonderry; 17 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was sadly predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Isabelle M. (Brothers) Forrest who died March 24, 2016, three of his daughters, Marianne Forrest in 1979 and Patricia Lynch and Kathy Sweet in 2006, as well as his siblings, Edward Forrest and Lorraine Landry.
Calling hours were held on Monday, April 18th from 4 - 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, April 19th at 10:00am at St. Jude Parish, 435 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. Burial followed in the Cemetery on the Hill, Windham.
