Obituary

A love story for the books came to an end on April 14th, 2016 with the passing of Robert "Bob" Z. Kilcup, aged 83, and Frances "Midge" Kilcup (nee Holmes), aged 75, who passed within a half an hour of each other in the comfort of their home, surrounded by loved ones. For the past 50 years, the quiet town of Pembroke was blessed by the union of Bob and Midge, who lived and raised their family there. They dated for four years before tying the knot and recently celebrated their 46th Wedding Anniversary on Valentine's Day. The couple is survived by their children, Ralph Kilcup and his wife Cheryl of Brockton; Debra MacLean and her husband John of Pembroke; William Sweetman and his husband Joe Ryan of Pembroke; Robert Kilcup and his wife Tracey of Wareham; Laura Willard and her husband Kenneth Clinton of Carver; and pre-deceased by their son Michael Kilcup. The couple was well loved by many who called them Grandpa, Grandma, Aunt Midge and Uncle Bob including. They made beloved memories with their 15 grandchildren; Michael, Brian, Joshua, Christopher, Heather, Melissa, Andrew, Nicholas, Rachel, Casey, Hannah, Kaitlin, Timmy, and the late Simon and the late Stephanie as well as their 13 great-grandchildren; Zachary, James, Dillon, Jeffrey, Zoey, Lillianna, Hanna, Abby, Brooke, Brenna, Addison, Nathan, and the late Brison in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. Bob and Midge enjoyed cribbage, watching the Red Sox play, and spending time with their family. They were well known for their wit and sense of humor that stayed with them well into their final hours. The two held a great passion for helping others and always opened their door to someone in need. The couple was devoted to each other and their family; they were loving and kind hearted parents and friends to all. Bob served in Germany during the Korean War and was a member of the VFW of Whitman, Hanson AA, and the Hilltop. Midge was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Whitman.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, April 19th from 4:00-8:00PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St (Rte 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman. A celebration of their life will be held, Wednesday April 20th at 10:00AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel. Interment with military honors will follow at the St. James Cemetery in Whitman, MA.
