Frederick J. Klaus Jr., age 61, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2016 at Hospice of the Fisher Home in Amherst. He was born on Aug. 22, 1954 in Springfield, son of the late Frederick J. Klaus, Sr., and Sophie H. (Gwozdz) Klaus. Frederick worked as a CNC machinist for a Machine Shop in Brimfield for the last 15 years. He leaves his wife Janice (Mahan) of Springfield, 1 son, Richard Mahan (Lisa ) of Granby; 1 daughter, Jennifer Courtney (James) of South Hadley; 1 brother, Robert Klaus (Cori) of Palmer; 2 sisters, Karen Kamienski (Stephen) of Chicopee and Deborah Klaus of New Mexico. He also leave 3 grandsons, Caden, Brogan and Sawyer Mahan of Granby and 2 granddaughters, Elizabeth and Emma Courtney of South Hadley. He also leaves his godson and nephew Stephen Kamienski of Easthampton along with a large extended family. Fred was an avid sports fan. He followed both college and professional sports, especially the Boston Celtics and New England Patriots. He enjoyed vacations at Hampton Beach, Florida and family vacations to Bermuda. Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 15, 2016 from 4:00 -7:00 p.m. at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 16th at 9 a.m. from the Grise Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Church at 10 a.m. followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery.
