Clifford E. Tankard, 88, formerly of Milan, passed away on Wednesday April 13, 2016 at the Coos County Nursing Home. He was born in Berlin on June 30, 1927 the son of Harold O. and Olga (Halvorson) Tankard and moved to Milan in 1953. He graduated from Berlin High in 1945 and had served with the US Army. Clifford had been a self-employed potato farmer, had served as the road agent for the Town of Milan for 25 years and held the bus contract for the Milan Village School for many years. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, the National Potato Promotion Board, the Gorham Sabattis Lodge #73 F & AM and the Milan Planning Board for many years.
Family includes his wife Emily (Johnson) Tankard of Berlin, NH and formerly of Milan; children Donna Gagne and husband Glenn of Milan, NH, Beth Lorden and companion Yves Zornio of Gorham, NH, Karen Flint and husband Richard of Milan, NH and Jennifer Gernhard and husband Douglas of Lyme, NH; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brother Harold Tankard of Manchester, NH; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son-in-law Joseph Lorden and sisters Pauline Hodgman, Jean Plummer, Lois Froding and Carrie Bonney.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday April 16, 2016 at 10 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 101 Norway St., Berlin. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Milan. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin on Friday afternoon and evening from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 PM.
