TAUNTON – Maria M. Chaves, 90, of Taunton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, surrounded by her family.
She was the widow of Manuel S. Chaves.
Born in Santa Maria, Azores, Maria emigrated to Taunton in 1968 and worked for many years as a machine operator for the former Modern Plastics.
Maria was very skilled a knitting and crocheting and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children, Helen Cardoso and her husband Luis of Taunton, Joseph Chaves and his wife Filomena of Matthews, NC, Rosemary Carvalho of Taunton and Antonio P. Chaves and his wife Lisa of Taunton; her sister, Conceicao Andrade of Taunton; grandchildren, Mike, Allison, Amy, Eric, T.J., Krissy, Taylor, Camron and Victoria; great grandchildren, Joel, Mike, Junior and Rosalee; and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Saturday, April 16th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Jude the Apostle Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
