David F. Barrette, Sr., 84, died Tuesday, April 12, 2016. He was the husband of the late Norma Margaret (Chapdelaine) Barrette. They had been married 61 years.
Born in Providence, he was a son of John Babtiste and Ovile (Boisoneau ) Barrette. David worked as a maintenance technician with Providence Gravure for thirty years before retiring. He had made his home in Smithfield for fifteen years, before moving to Johnston. He was a faithful patron of the Smithfield Elks Lodge and the Greystone Social Club in North Providence.
He is survived by his children, David Barrette, Jr, of North Providence, Jaqueline Boucher of Bradenton, Florida, Wayne Barrette of Palm Harbor, Florida, and Lisa Elgar of Seekonk, Massachusetts, as well as his nine grandchildren, Kerri, Michael, Brittany, Samantha, Sabrina, Adriana, Matthew, Andrew, and Juliana, and his seven great grandchildren, Miranda, Anthony, Jason, Christen, Joel, Ethan and Kaiden, and his sister, Pauline Stafford of Rockledge, Florida. He is predeceased by his grandson, Jason Tuttle.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, April 16th at 10am in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 1804 Atwood Avenue, Johnston. Visitation Friday April 15th from 4-7pm in the Anderson Winfield Funeral Home.
