Joanne A. (Medeiros) Armanetti, 75, of New Bedford died April 12, 2016 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late John E. Armanetti.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late John V. Medeiros and Alice (Nickerson) Sylvia Medeiros, Joanne was a lifelong New Bedford resident.
Mrs. Armanetti was formerly employed as a licensed practical nurse at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth and with the Dartmouth Public School System, for over 20 years, until her retirement. She also did private duty nursing, specializing in stroke rehabilitation. She was a graduate of Cape Cod Hospital School of Nursing.
Mrs. Armanetti particularly enjoyed gardening, beach days on Sconticut Neck and watching sports. Her greatest love was spending time with family and close friends.
She is survived by her two sons, David J. Armanetti and his wife Kathleen B. of Lexington, MA and Peter M. Armanetti and his wife Olga N. of Rochester; daughter, Jayne E. Maranhas and her husband Frederick J. of North Dartmouth; sister, Roberta A. Dow and her husband Ronald J. of New Bedford; five grandchildren, Alex Sousa, Riley Haynes, Amanda Armanetti, John Armanetti, and Quinn Armanetti; her Godmother, Margaret Soares; and many nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral will be held on Saturday, April 16th at 8:45 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home For Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6), followed by her Funeral Mass at St. Lawrence Church, 110 Summer St., New Bedford at 10 AM. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery on Route 6 in Dartmouth. Visiting hours will be on Friday, April 15th from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society 5 Manley St. West Bridgewater, MA 02379.
