Obituary

Edward Arthur Carlson, 91, of Groton died Sunday, April 10, 2016 at the Groton Regency. He is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Dorothy (Collamore) Carlson.

He was born on September 3, 1924 in Essex, CT, the son of Arthur and Millicent (Watrous) Carlson. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp, serving in World War II.

He worked for 39 years for CL&P Co. in Essex and Madison, ending his career in Mystic as Area Operating Superintendent.

Ed spent many years singing for and directing the New London Barber Shop Chorus. He was a longtime member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church and served as Junior Warden.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his 3 sons; John and his wife Carol Carlson of North Carolina, Robert and his wife Judy Carlson of MA, and Richard Carlson of Vermont, as well as 5 grandchildren, Meredith, Jenna, Taylor, Bradley and Jamie Carlson.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 16, at one p.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 15 Pearl Street, Mystic. Burial will follow in St. Mark's Memorial Garden. There are no visiting hours.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to The St. Mark’s Memorial Garden, 15 Pearl ST. Mystic, Ct. or The Center for Hospice Care, 227 Dunham St. Norwich, CT. 06360.
