Obituary

Joseph V. Forgione, of Stoneham, formerly of Medford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 10, 2016, from complications of pneumonia. He was 89 years old.

Born and raised in East Boston, he was the son of the late Joseph and Rose (Giaquinto) Forgione. At the age of seventeen, he entered the Army and was a proud WWII veteran. He was a military policeman serving at various POW camps in the US. While on leave from the Army, he met his wife Helen (Tracia) and they married in 1948. The couple raised their family in Medford with love and devotion. Joe worked for the Ford Motor Company in Somerville, until they moved to Ohio. He then worked as a set-up man and UAW shop steward for the Reece Corporation in Waltham, MA for many years, until they moved to North Carolina. Later, Joe went to work for MIT and retired from there in 1992.

Joe liked to spend time with his family. He enjoyed going out to eat, sports, scratch tickets, traveling, listening to music, watching musicals and entertaining everyone with his singing and storytelling at family gatherings.

Joe was the beloved husband of the late Helen D. (Tracia) Forgione, who passed away in 2010. They shared 61 loving years of marriage. He was the devoted father of Charlene Ellis and her husband John of Stoneham, Joseph and his wife Ann of North Grafton, Robert and his partner Susan of Malden. He was the loving grandfather of Jason of Chelmsford, Jeremy of Boxborough, Michael of Medford and Angela of Malden. He was also the loving great-grandfather of Christopher, Liliana, Courtney and Jenna, all of Chelmsford and Mia of Medford. Joe was preceded in death by his siblings Richard Forgione and Marie Scioletti

His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main Street, Medford, Friday, April 15th at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4 through 8 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, in Medford.
