Juan Villanueva, age 89, of Taunton passed away in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, April 10. 2016. He was the beloved husband of Alicia Gonzalez, with whom he spent the past 39 years together with.
Born in Comerio, Puerto Rico on September 25, 1926, he was a loving son of the late Blas Villanueva and Melta Reyes. He grew up in Puerto Rico and had resided in Taunton for the past 50 years.
Prior to retiring, Mr. Villanueva had been employed as a foundry worker at the former AMCAST-BELCHER Co. in Easton.
A communicant of St Mary’s Church in Taunton, Juan’s favorite times spent were those with his adoring family. He loved baseball, was a big fan of the Boston Red Sox, and along with wife enjoyed salsa dancing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted children Bernice Villanueva and her boyfriend Roman Gomez, Haydee Gonzalez and her fiancé Alfonso Perez, Alma Albino and her former husband Ricardo, Elsa Carrillo and her former husband Adrian and Luz Roman all of Taunton and Angel Gonzalez of Fall River. His 4 sisters, 2 brothers, many grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews also survive him.
His funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Wednesday, April 20th at 9:00 A.M. from the Taunton Funeral Home, 8 Crapo St. (Off Route 140, Tremont St.) Taunton followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in St Mary’s Church, St Mary’s Square, Taunton. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, April 19th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Taunton Funeral Home.
