Leon J. “Butch” Delaney, age 70, passed away on April 8, 2016. He was the beloved son of the late Leon and Rose (McManus) Delaney, and the dear brother of Bob of Winchester, Maureen O’Brien of Woburn, Denis of Stoneham, Meg Oliver of Winchester, Conor of Woburn and Danny of Wakefield, and their spouses. He was also the devoted uncle of 11 nieces and nephews and their families and is further survived by his aunts, uncle, cousins, and one son, Lee Delaney. He was a member of the BC High School football team, with the class of 63, a 1967 graduate of Boston College and a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather at Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester on Friday, April 15 @ 9AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, 155 Washington St., Winchester, at 10AM. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Leon’s memory may be made to Boston College, and mailed to Boston College, Office of University Advancement, Cadigan Alumni Center,140 Commonwealth Ave. Chestnut Hill, MA 02467.
