Robert J. Leonard, age 73, of Freetown, formerly of Weymouth and Brockton, died Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Tobey Hospital. He was the loving husband of Rose M. DeLellis for 38 years. Son of the late James and Vera (Sorenson) Leonard, Bob was raised and educated in Weymouth. Following his graduation from Archbishop Williams, he had been employed by Putnam Investments; as a Programmer for BCS in Needham, and was the owner of Extra Innings Baseball Card Store in East Providence, RI. Bob enjoyed long drives, listening to music and playing cards. He was also an avid Boston sports fan, especially of the Red Sox.
In addition to his wife Rose, he is survived by his children, Theresa Cherry and her husband Jack of South Boston, Wendy Willis of Lakeville, Thomas Hayes, Jr. of Brockton, Pamela Madonna of Lakeville, Kevin Hayes of Brockton, Frank Hayes and his wife Michelle of Bridgewater, Nora Risti and her husband Ernest of Bridgewater, NJ and Keri Bamforth of Brockton. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, Robin, Ralph Jr., Kim, Tommy, Jimmy, Johnny, Matt, Kevin Jr., Marissa, Frankie Jr., Jenna, Mark, Brianna, Shayna, and Nicole, 11 great grandchildren, Emily, Ralph III, Kayla, Hailey, Savannah, Autumn, Nick, James, Juliette, and Leah and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Dorothy Finnegan, William Leonard, and Michael Leonard and father in law of the late James Madonna.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, (Rte 123) Brockton, Sunday 2-5pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home Monday at 10:30am. Please consider donations in Bob’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
