Obituary

CHICOPEE – Terrence F. “Terry” Atkinson, 53, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was stricken suddenly at home after clearing snow on Monday evening, April 4, 2016. He was born in Hartford, Connecticut on October 20, 1962, a son of the late Christopher W. Atkinson and Stacia A. Kirkiewicz. He was raised in East Hartford, graduated from East Hartford High School and lived there for many years. He later lived in Easthampton before moving to the Fairview section of Chicopee in 1987. Terry was employed as a truck driver for Hunter Douglas and had previously worked for National Vinyl in the New England and New York areas. He served in the Army National Guard with Company C, First Battalion 104th Infantry and attained the rank of Specialist Fourth Class. During his leisure time, Terry enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and was a Chicago Bears fan. He was a former member of PV8 of NAFCA. He leaves his wife of 28 years, Ann M. (Ritter) Atkinson of Chicopee; his two daughters, Katharine S. Atkinson of Chicopee and her partner, Alexander Nivus, and Elisabeth L. Atkinson of Chicopee; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ronald and Bridget Ritter of Chicopee; his two sisters, Ronnie McHenry and Edyie Larose and her husband, Larry Nutter, all of St. Petersburg, FL; his two brothers-in-law, Stuart Ritter of Agawam and Kevin Ritter of Jensen Beach, FL; his sister-in-law, Lori Labonte and her husband, Christopher, of Palmer; and many nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Atkinson and Ritter families. His relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday morning, April 9, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11:30 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
