Gene Grice, 79, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Monday, April 4, 2016, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with Minister Michael Lamb and Minister Jerry Lavender officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Grice was born November 24, 1936, in Ben Hill County, Georgia, to the late Joseph Lewis and Thelma Adel McLemore Grice. He attended Fitzgerald schools and worked as an insurance salesman with Coastal States. He owned and operated Colony Furniture Company in Fitzgerald. Mr. Grice loved music and playing his guitar. He enjoyed working in his yard, cooking, fishing, and hunting. He was a member of the Fitzgerald Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Phyllis Grice of Fitzgerald; daughter: Wanda (Jeffery) Tanner of Fitzgerald; son, Gregory Grice; two grandchildren: Blake Tanner of Fitzgerald and Elizabeth Layfield of Texas; two great-grandchildren; three brothers: Floyd Grice of Valdosta, Bernard Grice of Fitzgerald, and Benny (Vera) Grice of Fitzgerald; two sisters: Joyce Moore of Fitzgerald and Florence Minshew of Rebecca. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Grace Grice.
