Constance M. “Connie” Gauthier, 81, of Woonsocket died Wednesday March 23, 2016 at home.
Born and raised in Woonsocket she was a daughter of the late Wilfred J. and Lauretta Rose (Jarry) Gauthier. Connie was a graduate of Woonsocket High School Class of 1952.
In her early adult years she lived in New York City. She later returned to Woonsocket and resided in the city for most of her life.
Connie had a number of interesting careers during her life including a stint as a private detective. Locally she was employed by the Woonsocket School Department at the McFee Administration building for a number of years.
Currently Connie was the chairwoman of the Woonsocket Personnel Board serving since 2006 and was reappointed to that positon by the past several mayoral administrations. She was a competent and fair person who served her city well.
Connie volunteered her time for several area organizations including the Over 50 softball league.
Connie’s signature hallmark was her zest for life. She traveled extensively including recently to India. Over the past 10 years she took music lessons and learned to play piano. Connie had a special place in her heart for animals especially her late dog “Oliver Ra”.
A “live in the moment person” Connie left a lasting legacy of love and happiness on the lives of those she touched.
She was the sister of the late Wilfred M. Gauthier and is survived by her nieces and nephews Leo Gauthier of Texas, Mark Gauthier of CT, Wilfred Gauthier Jr. of Burrillville, Sandy Lee Paul of North Smithfield (and her son Tyler Lahousse) and Danielle Fallone of Burrillville.
A memorial service in celebration of Connie’s life will be Friday at 7:00 pm in the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave. Woonsocket. Visiting hours are Friday from 4-7 pm prior to the service. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Northern Rhode Island Animal Hospital 152 School St. Forestdale, RI. 02824.
