Obituary

Ronah Marie Conner, 86, of Prosser, entered into rest on March 30, 2016 at Kadlec Regional Medical Center.
She was born on April 6, 1929 in Arlington, Virginia where she was raised and graduated from high school. Marie married Charles Gail Wixson and the couple made their home in Virginia and South Carolina. They had three children, Charles Gail, Ronah Marie and Thomas Allen. Following the death of her husband, the family returned to Arlington. There she met Andrew Jackson Conner and the couple married in August of 1956 and added two more children to their family, William and Robert Andrew. As a military family, they moved several times to military assignments inside the U.S. and Japan. After retiring in 1979, the couple made their home in Prosser.
Marie always lent a hand to military wives whose husbands were deployed. Always busy, she loved planning events for the families and for the officer clubs. Once in Prosser, Marie took over running the Prosser Memorial Hospital Gift Shop for the Hospital Auxiliary. She expanded the gift shop and made it profitable enabling the hospital auxiliary to begin giving scholarships to Prosser High School students. The gift shop was renamed Marie’s Boutique in recognition of her hard work and effort. Marie was a member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church.

Marie is survived by her children, Charlie Wixson of Washington D.C., Ronah Marie Grigg and her husband, Walt of Naches, Thomas Wixson and his wife, Ronetta of Frederick, Maryland; and William Conner of Prosser; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; her sister, June Jacobs of Warrington, Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her son, Robert Andrew Conner in 1976; her husband, Andrew Conner in 2012; two brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be held at Prosser Funeral Home on Friday, April 8th from 3:00-7:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 9th at 12:00 Noon at Covenant Presbyterian Church. She will be laid to rest with her husband, Andrew at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Prosser Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
