Obituary

William “Bill” P. Hanavan, 85, of Franklin died April 3 in Milford Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. He was the husband of Marjorie C. (Dangelo) Hanavan for the past 61 years.
Born in Millbury, June 21, 1930, the son of the late John and Lillian (Sampson) Hanavan, Mr. Hanavan was raised in Westboro and had lived in Franklin for the
past 61 years.
Bill had been a boiler engineer for many years. He had worked at Norwood Hospital, Wrentham State School, Hanamann Hospital and the Massachusetts Hospital School in Canton.
Bill had served as ombudsman for several area nursing homes. Bill was a daily communicant of St. Mary’s Church. He enjoyed being involved in numerous activities, events and groups at St. Mary’s over the years.
Mr. Hanavan served in the Navy during the Korean War.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, John F. Hanavan of Franklin, Michael W. Hanavan and his wife Elizabeth of Worcester, Terrance J. Hanavan of Webster, Mariateresa Battite of Blackstone and Tara L. Clifford and her husband Michael of Blackstone.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Justin, Katharine, Brittany, Jeremy, Kayla, Jordan, Patrick, Casey, Abigail and Ellarose.
His funeral will be held on Friday, April 8 from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 131 Main Street Franklin at 9:15 followed b y a funeral mass in St. Mary’s church at 10:00.
Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Calling hours will be on Thursday from 5-8 p.m.
