Dorothy R. (Vincent) Gwozdz, our beautiful Dot, 85, of Westport, passed from this Earth into heaven on Sunday, April 3, 2016. She was the wife of Stanley M. Gwozdz, whom she was married to for 67 years.
Mrs. Gwozdz was born in Westport, daughter of the late Romeo N. and Annie (Wharmby) Vincent, and had been a lifelong resident of the town. Prior to her retirement, she was the cafeteria manager for the Westport School Department. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and cooking. She especially loved spending time with her family and their many trips to Maine, spending time at their camp. She was as quiet and gentle as falling snow and like a snowflake, she touched everyone she met with her sweet love, compassion and selflessness.
Survivors along with her husband include her 3 daughters: Karen J. Gonsalves and her husband Bob of Westport, Sheryl J. Gwozdz and her significant other Bryan Medeiros of Fairhaven and Robin D. Streck and her husband Kevin of Greenville, ME; 2 sisters: Gertrude “Gert” Bonilla and her husband Candido of Bonita Springs, FL and Lillian Jean of Norton; sister-in-law: Kay Vincent; 3 grandchildren: Coleen Magalhaes, Jeffrey Roy and Jason Oliveira ; 6 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Bertha Ouellette, Mabel Mason, Jeanne Roy, and George, William, Charles and Albert Vincent.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Wednesday, April 6, 2016 from the Potter Funeral Home at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5-8 P.M.
Interment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
