TEWKSBURY - Maureen A. ( Lyons) Allen, age 73, a resident of Tewksbury for four decades,
died Saturday, July 2, at the Shaugnhessy-Kaplan Rehabilitation Hospital in Salem, after a long
period of declining health. She was the wife of John J. Allen, who died on April 25, 2005.
She was born in Lawrence, on June 29, 1932, a daughter of the late John and Loretta (Keefe)
Lyons. She was raised in Lawrence and graduated St. Mary’s Catholic High School in Lawrence.
.She had resided in Tewksbury since 1961.
She was retired from T.J. Maxx’s Wilmington store.
She was remembered by her family as having devoted her life to her husband and children, and
especially enjoyed travel to Ireland.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda Allen-Boden and her husband Frederick
of Pepperell, Marianne Turner of Marblehead; a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph Allen and his
wife Maura (Brine) of Pepperell; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Sarah, Donny, Lauren, Jessica, and
Molly; two brothers and a sister-in-law, John Lyons of Andover, Robert Lyons and his wife
Patricia (Scanlon) of No. Andover; and a sister, Joanne Pekarski of Methuen.
She was also mother of the late John J. Allen Jr.
Her Funeral Mass washeld Thursday, July 7, in St. William’s Church, Tewksbury. Burial was in St. Mary’s
Cemetery, Lawrence. Memorials to the American Lung Assn., Box 265, Burlington, MA 01803-
0465, will be appreciated.
