East Bridgewater - Robert F. Reardon 76, a lifelong resident of East Bridgewater, died Saturday April 2 after a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of Sarah (Studenski) Reardon.
Born in Brockton and raised in East Bridgewater, he was the son of the late John and Winifred (Mullen) Reardon and a graduate of East Bridgewater High, Class of 1957.
Bob was a proud veteran of the US Army having served from 1958-1964.
Prior to his retirement Bob had worked for over 30 years as store manager for Fernandes Supermarkets.
As a lifelong and active member of the East Bridgewater community, Bob was a founding member of the Standish Sportsmen’s Club, he was a member of the Lions Club for over 30 years and was a recipient of the club’s prestigious Melvin Jones Award. He was also a member of the East Bridgewater Commercial Club where he had served as general manager for 12 years, and had served as a water commissioner for the Town of East Bridgewater for 20 years.
He was a lifelong communicant of St. John Church of East Bridgewater.
He was a true outdoorsman and had enjoyed fishing, traveling and his good friends of many years in the “Chatham Boys Club”. He had treasured the times spent following the many activities of his five daughters and his cherished grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Sarah he is survived by his loving daughters Karen Pierce and her husband Robert of NY, Kristine Walent of East Bridgewater, Kathleen Hickey and her husband Robert of East Bridgewater, Kolleen DeAndrade and her husband Francisco of Raynham and Kelly Fortier and her husband James of East Bridgewater, his brothers William Reardon of Maine, the late John Reardon of Wareham and James Reardon and his wife Janet of Mashpee, his sisters Elizabeth King and her late husband Howard of East Bridgewater and Mary Nilsson and her husband Jeffrey of Brockton. He is also survived by his twelve grandchildren, whom he adored, and many nieces and nephews.
His services will be held Wednesday April 6 at 9:00 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. John Church, East Bridgewater. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday April 5 from 4:00-8:00 PM.
